New Delhi, Recent Update – The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has issued a high-risk alert for users of Apple and Samsung devices, citing multiple vulnerabilities that could compromise user data and device security.
The alert specifically targets a range of Apple products, including iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, watchOS, and the Safari browser. CERT-In’s statement details numerous vulnerabilities that could potentially allow attackers to gain unauthorized access to sensitive information, execute arbitrary code, bypass security restrictions, cause denial of service (DoS) conditions, bypass authentication, gain elevated privileges, and perform spoofing attacks.
In addition to Apple, CERT-In has highlighted similar flaws in Samsung products, particularly affecting mobile Android versions 11, 12, 13, and 14. These flaws could enable attackers to bypass security measures, access user data, and execute harmful code on the affected devices.
Given the severity of these vulnerabilities, users are advised to exercise caution when using their devices. This includes being vigilant while browsing the web, downloading apps, or opening email attachments. Users should also be on the lookout for any unusual activity or messages on their devices.
Importantly, CERT-In advises users to promptly install any available updates for their devices. These updates often contain crucial security patches that can protect devices from being exploited due to these vulnerabilities.
Despite Apple and Samsung’s reputation as trusted smartphone brands, this alert serves as a reminder that no technology is completely immune to cyberattacks. Users are encouraged to stay informed and proactive in safeguarding their digital devices against potential security threats. The alert underscores the importance of regular software updates and cautious digital practices as key defenses against cyber vulnerabilities.
