In a major development concerning national security, the Delhi Police have apprehended Lalit Jha, the fifth suspect in the recent security breach incident at the Indian Parliament. This arrest marks a significant milestone in the investigation of what is being considered a severe lapse in the security of one of the nation’s most critical establishments.

Lalit Jha, who was on the run following the incident, surrendered himself at the Kartavya Path police station in New Delhi. His surrender comes after the police intensified their search, following the arrest of four other suspects involved in the breach.

The Delhi Police’s Special Cell, which has taken over the investigation, confirmed that all mobile phones belonging to the accused were found in Jha’s possession. This discovery is crucial as it could potentially uncover the extent of communication and planning involved in orchestrating the breach.

During the incident, two of the accused were caught on camera outside the Parliament building, causing a disturbance with smoke crackers. Lalit Jha is believed to have recorded this event. However, upon the immediate arrest of his accomplices, Jha managed to escape and had been evading the police until his recent surrender.

The Special Cell is conducting a thorough investigation to understand the full extent of the breach and the motive behind it. Preliminary findings suggest that the breach was premeditated, raising concerns about the security protocols in place at such high-profile government sites.

All suspects, including Lalit Jha, were presented in court, where they were remanded for further questioning. The court has granted a seven-day remand for the suspects as the police continue to probe various angles of the case.
