In a significant development, Delhi Police’s Special Cell, in coordination with central agencies, has apprehended Javed Mattoo, a notorious terrorist associated with Hizbul Mujahideen, in the national capital. This arrest marks a major breakthrough in counter-terrorism efforts.

Details of the Arrest: Mattoo, classified as an A++ category terrorist with a bounty of ₹10 lakh on his head, was captured following a dedicated search operation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The arrest was executed by a team led by the Special Commissioner of Delhi Police, HGS Dhaliwal.

Seizure of Incriminating Materials: Upon his arrest, the police confiscated several items from Mattoo, including a pistol, a magazine, and a stolen vehicle. These items are believed to be crucial in the further investigation and establishment of his criminal activities.

Background of the Terrorist: Javed Mattoo hails from the Sopore district of Jammu and Kashmir. He has been involved in multiple high-profile criminal activities, including five grenade attacks in the union territory. Additionally, he is implicated in the killing of five police personnel in separate incidents. Mattoo is reported to be one of the last surviving terrorists in the A++ category from Jammu and Kashmir.

Family’s Reaction: In a contrasting event, a video of Mattoo’s brother, Rayees, hoisting the national flag at their residence in Jammu and Kashmir’s Sopore district, had gone viral last year. Rayees’s patriotic act was widely shared on social media, and he expressed his loyalty to India in his statement to the media.

Regarding his brother, Rayees mentioned that Javed became a terrorist in 2009 and since then, they had no information about him. Rayees urged his brother to return, highlighting the changed situation and the futility of Pakistan’s involvement.

Police Investigation: Following his arrest, Mattoo will be taken into police custody remand for further action and interrogation. The police aim to uncover more details about his network and activities to dismantle any remaining operatives.

This arrest is a significant step in the fight against terrorism and highlights the continuous efforts of Indian security forces to maintain peace and security in the country.
