Introduction To JioGlass
Reliance made a splash with the introduction of its Jio smart glass at the IMC 2023 tech event held in Delhi. The tech giant plans to roll out two distinct versions tailored for consumers and enterprises respectively. This move marks a venture into diversified tech offerings by Reliance, which now ranges from feature phones to innovative smart glasses named JioGlass.
JioGlass Design and Connectivity
JioGlass comes across as a futuristic accessory weighing merely around 75 grams, encompassing a sleek metallic frame and a pair of lenses. It offers connectivity to your smartphone via a USB-C cable, doubling as a power conduit for the device. Although wireless connectivity is hinted to be on the horizon, for now, your tethered smartphone can function as a virtual controller for the JioGlass.
Display Capabilities
Stepping into the future, JioGlass boasts the capability to morph your smartphone screen into an impressive 100-inch virtual display, floating right before your eyes. With a 1080p display accorded to each eye, it orchestrates a captivating visual experience. A unique feature is the detachable flap which, when removed, unveils Augmented Reality (AR) content, and when attached, transitions to Virtual Reality (VR) content. The integrated trackpad controls add to the ease of adjusting volume or the virtual screen brightness.
Audio and Battery Features
Enhancing the immersive experience are two side speakers with an emphasis on delivering spatial audio, alongside a built-in microphone for voice call functionalities. Powering the JioGlass is a 4,000mAh battery, touted to provide up to three hours of runtime, ensuring users have ample time to delve into the AR and VR worlds.
Pricing and Availability
Reliance has yet to disclose the pricing and availability specifics of the JioGlass. However, it’s anticipated that the smart glass could hit the markets later within the year, hinting at a potential release in the upcoming two months, catering to both consumer and enterprise needs.

For those keen on getting a head start, JioGlass is featured as ‘Coming Soon’ on Tesseract’s website, which is hosting an Early Access Programme. Interested individuals can apply for early access via the official website, albeit with a requirement to provide certain details like name, business email, and organisation name to enroll in the Early Access Programme.
