In a significant political development in Telangana, Anumala Revanth Reddy has been sworn in as the new Chief Minister, marking a new chapter in the state’s governance. The oath-taking ceremony, held at the LB Stadium, was a grand public event attended by top Congress leaders including Sonia Gandhi, Mallikarjuna Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Siddharamaiah, and D K Shivakumar.
Following his inauguration, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy immediately set to work, signing a file related to the six guarantees promised during the election campaign. Demonstrating his commitment to inclusivity and empowerment, one of his first official acts was providing employment to Rajani, a physically challenged woman, fulfilling a key promise made during the campaign.
Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka joined the administration as the Deputy Chief Minister, alongside ten other ministers sworn in during the ceremony. The new cabinet, showcasing a blend of experience and dynamism, includes notable names such as Uttam Kumar Reddy, Tummala Nageswara Rao, Konda Surekha, and Seethakka.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his congratulations to Revanth Reddy via Twitter, assuring all possible support for the progress of Telangana and the welfare of its people.
In his address to the gathering post-ceremony, CM Revanth Reddy underscored his government’s commitment to the development of the state. Marking a symbolic departure from the previous administration, he renamed the Chief Minister’s Camp Office to ‘Jyotirao Phule People’s Bhavan’ from its earlier designation as ‘Pragati Bhavan’.
In a move reflecting his approachable and transparent governance style, Reddy announced the hosting of a ‘Praja Darbhar’ at his office, inviting citizens to visit and share their ideas and concerns directly with him.
The Congress Party, leading the new administration, has secured a majority with 64 seats in the 119-seat House, relegating the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) to second place with 39 seats. The Communist Party of India (CPI), allied with the Congress, won a seat in Khammam district, while the BJP and MIM secured eight and seven seats, respectively.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s ascent to power is seen as a transformative moment for Telangana, with expectations running high for the fulfillment of the promises made during the vigorous election campaign. His tenure begins with a focus on development, inclusivity, and responsive governance.
